I spent the last week in Nebraska, visiting relatives and friends. Had a nice time, it was difficult to say goodbye to everyone. While there, I noticed several differences between Nebraska and the Phoenix area, where I live, and thought I’d share with my readers my observations. I'm not saying one place is better than the other. In fact, my preference would be to spend half the year in each place.

- Strawberry Orchards in bloom
- College World Series and NE Huskers
- Farmers Markets with homegrown foods
- Flyswatters and mosquitos
- Lawnmowers and green grass
- White, yellow and blue houses
- Neighbors who are friends
- Professional weathermen
- Catholic churches on every street corner
- Rain/tornados/snow
- Savers, as opposed to spenders
- Bright yellow neon signs

- Expensive resorts
- Signs about Illegal Immigration
- Snake, coyote, and rabbit roadkill
- Shiny new foreign cars
- Restaurants: Salt Cellar, Binkleys, Roys
- Cactus Farms in bloom
- Superbowl, Suns, Diamondbacks, Cardinals
- Art and Wine festivals
- Scorpions
- Desert landscaping
- Brown houses. Only.
- Neighbors who are acquaintances
- The news anchor doubles as the weatherman
- Twenty minute drives to find a church
- Seasons: Hot and hotter
- Spenders, as opposed to savers
- Signs that match the environment, in Spanish and English.
