I’ve heard the phrase “There are only two good days to own a boat – the day you buy it and the day you sell it.” I see people with boats in their driveways who have to drag them behind a huge SUV, getting probably 4 miles to a gallon, then spend forever getting the boat gassed up and into the lake, then when they are done, hooking the boat back onto the SUV and dragging it back home. Seems like a major pain to me. I love boating but hate the hassles and for me it just doesn’t seem worth it. However, there is a boat valet service in Lake Sunapee that alleviates all the hassles of boating.
With the boat valet service, all you have to do is call them, and they launch the boat for you so it’s ready when you arrive at the lake. They also store the boat for you and haul it back to the storage facility when you are done. What a concept!
The service for the season, which is from Memorial Day to Labor Day, costs $70/foot, and provides for unlimited launches throughout the season. While this may seem expensive, you don’t have to own an SUV or pay for the gas involved in transporting the boat back and forth from your house to the lake. You also don’t have to worry about storage, or the time involved in setting up the boat.
While this seems like a winning startup to me, a simple google search didn’t bring up a ton of results for other boat valets. Perhaps there is someone out there interested in providing this service to other lakes and boating regions.

We grew up with a boat that kept docked at Lake Havasu - I loved loved loved our boat. Wow - sure would be a funny picture of me trying to water ski again. .. :-)
A boat is something I would never own. Don't lakes provide rentals? Unless I was out in a boat daily, I would just rent it. Most people only use their boats no more than once a week in nice weather, to me this seems most economical.
