Small ideas are the biggest

I’ve never met him but I feel like I have. Maybe I did meet him in a previous life. His name is Evan Williams. He grew up in the small Nebraska town of Clarks. I grew up in a small Nebraska town too, yet I’ve never heard of Clarks until I read about him. He went to the University of Nebraska Lincoln about the same time I did. He dropped out though, to start a few businesses. His most notable business at the time was a CD-ROM for Cornhuskers fans. He had a few other businesses too but they were so unsuccessful he took a web development job in California. Then he started a company called Pyra Labs with his now ex-girlfriend. Their goal was to develop and sell a project management software. To have some income while they were developing their software they did some contract work at HP. To keep track of their progress on the software he developed another software he called Stuff. He and his partner laughed that it was a better product than the other software he was developing. While his partner was on vacation in 2000, he put it online and called it blogger.com. The website took off by leaps and bounds and Evan sold this company to Google to make mega millions. There’s a lot more to the story and you can read about this genius here. The article also discusses his latest venture called Twitter, which will probably be worth billions soon too.

Hi Rita. I am also from Nebraska, also attended UNL, and also grew up in a small town. Small world, huh?

Well, just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your site.
